In case, for some reason, you missed it, Skrillex absolutely cleaned up in the Grammy nominations department this year. For the first time ever, a DJ/producer has been nominated for Best New Artist! That huge accomplishment—and nod to the widespread success enjoyed by the entire EDM industry in 2011—kind of overshadowed the four other nominations he racked up: Best Dance Recording (Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites); Best Dance/Electronica Album (Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites); Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical (Cinema - Benny Benassi feat. Gary Go (Skrillex Remix)); and Best Short-Form Music Video (First Of The Year (Equinox)). Five Grammy nods is massive for any musician, but it’s extra exciting to see EDM getting the recognition it deserves after having arguably its best year ever. What do you guys think: how will Skrillex stack up against the likes of Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Bon Iver, Radiohead, and Adele?
